Grab the control knob and decide what happens on stage. PRESS Play. is an interactive show that takes you along the wondrous/treacherous path of freedom in a virtual world full of hidden algorithms.

You decide what happens on stage – not your neighbour’s choice or that of the person in front of you.
You decide how the world on stage changes, how the story pans out and what will be the outcome for the characters.
Audience becomes actor becomes audience.

We are fast becoming the directors of our own environment.
Social media decide what you see and what you don’t.
The world, with us in it, seems increasingly ‘makeable’.
That gives us a false sense of control and, most of all, burdens us with a huge sense of responsibility: Surely it’s up to you to determine who you are?
Or is that just make-believe?
Are you manipulating things, or are you actually being manipulated?
What if you are not the only one holding a remote control?
And is there a pause button?

PRESS Play. by playField and KOPERGIETERY looks  for the land behind all avatars;
the hidden algorithms which secretly steer us in a specific direction.
Time to put up some stiff resistance?
Join us and let’s play …

playField. is a young art collective which explores the boundaries between actor and spectator. Through interactive installations they invite the audience to join a shared experience. From the first invitation to participation onwards, the unscripted dialogue between the audience and the actors, as well as the collective experience, are important for the spectators perception. The outcome of a performance therefore lies not only in the hands of its creators, the spectators are equally responsible in this matter.
playField. uses philosophical, sociological, data scientific, astronomical and mathematical research as a starting point to reflect on society and la condition humaine. playField. explores these topics by putting the focus on the spectator in a dramaturgy which combines reality and fiction.
